Writing is the backbone of any story. Good writing sucks the reader or viewer in. Bad writing can lead to a comedy of errors and it can not only lose an audience at times it can anger and frustrate them. This is where I feel Disney/Lucasfilm is currently struggling, finding good writers.
Both seasons of Andor show off some of the best writing. Let’s take a look at both Andor and The Rise Of Skywalker lines as an illustration of good and bad writing.

Andor: “The distance between what is said and what is known to be true has become an abyss… The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. Even truth leaves us, when we let it slip away when it’s ripped from our hands, we become vulnerable to whatever monster screams the loudest.”- Mon Mantha.
The Rise Of Skywalker: “I don’t care if you when. I just need Kylo Ren to lose”- General Hux.
Andor: “Joy has to wind at its back. Joy will not announce its arrival. You need to listen for it and be mindful of how delicate and fleeting it can be. But search out those treasures.”- Perrin Fertha.

The Rise Of Skywalker: “Somehow Palpatine returned.” Poe Dameron.
The quotes can go on for a while. But you can see how one aspect of Star Wars content used strong writing which leads to good storytelling and the other aspect of Star Wars content shows a lack of creativity and split and angered the fan base.
What to make of this: If Disney/Lucasfilm wants Star Wars to return to some sort of prominence, then good solid writing is needed with every project otherwise it feels like the company is just going through the motions which is where fan discord stems from.
