Star Wars And The Lightsaber Lure

Star Wars offers many things to different people. Be it characters, stories, locations, basters, or lightsabers, every fan has their reason for why they love Star Wars. One thing is for sure, every young child at one time or another was their favorite character, and those who wielded a lightsaber many could not help but emulate the low-frequency hum and attempting to throw in a crackle as their saber made contact with it’s target. So what is the draw of the lightsaber that has captivated fans, young and old?

“This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster, an elegant weapon for a more civilized age.”- Obi-Wan Kenobi, the iconic line from Star Wars: A New Hope was the lure, the hook was when Luke Skywalker turned the saber on, and a blue/while blade appeared.

Suddenly, every child and perhaps a few adults wondered if they could get their hands on such a weapon for themselves. The Lightsaber is what separates Star Wars from other film franchises and what separates the Jedi from the Sith, well, the color of the blade and the intent on how to use it.

The lightsaber was used for offense and defense. The sabers could be maneuvered at frightening speeds. From the Dawn of the Jedi, The Old Republic, The High Republic, Fall of the Jedi, Reign of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, The New Republic, Rise of the First Order, and New Jedi Order, it is the lightsaber that stands the test of time as the go-to weapon for those who possess it.

Just as captivating as the weapon is the blase color.
Blue: Associates justice, protection, and skill.
Green: Symbolizes peace, harmony, and a deep connection with the Force.
Purple: A balance between the dark side and light side of the Force.
Black: It is a unique Darksaber for leadership.
Red: Used by Dark Side, uses Sith primarily.
There are other blade colors as well. One other note, as Star Wars collectibles have grown as far as props and replicas, fans can now have their own lightsaber.
