One thing that has grated on the Star Wars fan base is the lack of a clear path forward. Movies and shows were, by and large, hit-or-miss and at times failed to connect with anything the fans saw fit. Recently, President and Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm, Dave Filoni, gave his vision for the future of Star Wars, and it is one that not only makes sense but also is geared to link everything together into a more cohesive story telling path.

First, it is important to know or remember that Dave Filoni is a huge fan of Star Wars and was before starting work at Lucasfilm. His vision dictates that he would like to first and foremost Filoni wants to honor the foundational characters introduced by George Lucas.
The Lucasfilm President wants to have character driven storytelling intertwined with epic sagas within the New Republic. He also wants to find a solid balance of the franchise’s timeless theme of good and evil.

Dave Filoni also wants to build on the philosophy that Star Wars needs to be universal for all as well as family-friendly. While presenting the age-old option of choosing good or evil.
Not wanting to focus on standalone projects, Filoni aims for high-stakes sagas that connect different characters overseen by one overarching framework. To illustrate Filoni’s vision of connecting stories together into one big story, he used The World Between Worlds to honor and bridge together the various eras of Star Wars lore.
So while Star Wars was perhaps a bit directionless for a time, Dave Filoni is going to stabilize it and make it fit together in a way that it has not for a while.
Star Wars fans should be optimistic he will hit his goal.
